Are you travelling to Philly on a lean budget? Do not worry. You can survive on burgers for the entirety of your stay there. Actually, burgers are tastier than 80% of the so called 'gourmet' dishes. Below are a couple of burger joints that will make you view fast-food in another light.

1. The Industry Bar

This joint is located on 1401 E Moyamensing Avenue. The restaurant serves ground brisket burger with lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickle mayo. Being new in the market means that you need to price your products better and give better quality so as to attract customers. I guess this joint has done as much, seeing the number of burger lovers that haunt it.

2. Spot Burger

Located on Philly's Arch Street is one of the most popular burger joints in the city - Spot Burger. It has a whole repertoire of burger selections but its Umami Burger, made with beef, lettuce, grilled onions, daikon, gochujang, teriyaki, and mushrooms is a must try.

3. Sketch Burger

The signature burger at this joint is the ever popular Smashed Onion burger whose beef patty is topped off with a tasty mound of caramelized onions, pepper jack cheese, and a garlic aioli. If you want to sample the tastiest burger in Philly, perhaps this is the place that serves the best.

4. JG Domestic

There is a new addition to the JG Domestic list of burgers called the JG Domestic Burger. Its custom-made Wolfe’s Neck sirloin patty that is served with a slice of Jersey tomato and then flavored with Bibb lettuce and Thousand Island dressing will make you feel like you have never tasted a burger before.

5. Shake Shack

After gaining a cult-like following in New York, Philly is the next place to conquer for the burger specialists - Shake Shack. The joint is modeled as a modern day roadside burger shop with three locations to choose from including Rittenhouse Square, University City and King of Prussia. The burgers, hot dogs and frozen custard served by the joint have made them popular. A whole population of New York must love this joint for something. Maybe it’s time you tried what they offer.

You may also want to check out the following additional Joints:

  • The Dandellion
  • Village Whiskey
  • Royal Ravern
  • Rounge

Philly may not be as expensive as New York or LA, but saving an extra shilling on meals may come in handy on a rainy day.
